Mobile clinic coming soon

Hi, I'm Katelyn
I'm a paediatric physiotherapist based in Melbourne, and I'm passionate about helping children build confidence, develop movement skills and discover what they're capable of through play.
My path into physiotherapy has been a little unconventional. I'm originally from the United States and spent years working with children as a volleyball coach, nanny and mentor before becoming a physiotherapist. Sport has always been a huge part of my life. I completed my undergraduate studies in Business and Communications at Oregon State University, where I played collegiate volleyball, before pursuing professional volleyball overseas in the Philippines.
My journey eventually brought me to Australia, where I've called home for the past seven years. I completed my Doctor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne and, after graduating, knew that working with children was where I wanted to focus my career, bringing together my clinical training, love of movement and lifelong passion for supporting children.
My approach to physiotherapy
Safe, supported & engaged
I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported and engaged. For me, paediatric physiotherapy is about so much more than practising a particular skill or ticking off a developmental milestone. It's about getting to know each child, discovering what they're interested in and finding creative ways to make movement meaningful to them.
Play-based & child-led
I take a play-based, child-led and evidence-informed approach, tailoring sessions to each child's strengths, needs and goals. Some days, that might look like building strength through an obstacle course or working on balance during a favourite game. Other days, it might mean slowing down, having a chat on the swings and allowing space for connection before tackling anything else.
I believe there's room for both, and that being responsive to a child's needs is an important part of helping them progress.
Families as partners
Working alongside families is equally important to me. You know your child better than anyone. I value your knowledge, listen to your concerns, and want you to feel heard, understood, and supported throughout our time together. We work collaboratively to establish goals that are meaningful for your child and realistic for your family's everyday life.
I want families to feel that they have someone in their corner. Someone who celebrates the wins, helps navigate the challenges, and advocates for the support their child needs.
My clinical interests
I work primarily with children aged 2–16, supporting a wide range of movement, developmental, and functional goals.
I enjoy meeting each child where they're at and considering the bigger picture of how movement fits into their everyday life. Whether a child is working towards a new skill, building confidence on the playground or finding ways to participate more comfortably in activities they love, I aim to make therapy relevant, achievable and enjoyable.
As a mobile physiotherapist, I can work with children in familiar and meaningful environments, including their homes, schools, playgrounds, and other community settings. This allows us to explore practical ways to build skills and support participation within the routines and activities that make up everyday life.
I have an interest in supporting children in these areas
Gross motor development
Balance & Coordination
Strength
Motor Control
Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
Functional movement
Exercise Prescription
Confidence & participation
I have experience supporting children with a range of diagnoses and support needs, including:
- Cerebral palsy
- Rare genetic conditions
- Muscular dystrophies
- Congenital myopathies
- Down syndrome
- Autism
- ADHD
- Other complex needs
I recognise that every child is different, and I tailor my approach to their individual abilities, goals, interests, and circumstances.
The right equipment, for real life
One of my key clinical interests is assistive equipment and supporting children with complex physical and developmental needs to access the equipment and supports that help them participate more fully in everyday life. I have experience with a range of equipment, including:
Gait trainers
Posterior walkers
Standing frames
Manual and power wheelchairs
Complex seating systems
Supportive indoor seating
Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs)
Postural support garments
I also consider when orthoses, such as ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), or postural support garments, such as Second Skin suits, may be beneficial, working collaboratively with the relevant professionals to ensure recommendations are tailored to each child.
For me, equipment prescription is about much more than choosing a product. It's about understanding the child, their goals, their daily environments, and what matters most to their family. I believe every family deserves to explore the most appropriate options for their child, regardless of price, and I'm passionate about helping families navigate the process to find solutions that support comfort, independence, participation, and quality of life.
Navigating the NDIS, together
I understand that navigating equipment options and the NDIS can feel overwhelming for families. I work alongside families throughout this process.
Clinical assessments
Reports and supporting documentation for NDIS funding requests
Assistive technology (AT) applications
Equipment trials
Equipment reviews
I aim to make the process as clear and manageable as possible while advocating for equipment and supports that genuinely meet each child's needs.

Outside of physio
A little about me
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me enjoying the outdoors, catching up with friends and family, planning my next adventure, crocheting something new, or hanging out with my two much-loved kittens and husband.
I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, and I bring that same curiosity and appreciation for each person's journey into my work. Getting to know the child and the people who matter most to them is one of my favourite parts of being a paediatric physiotherapist.
Ultimately, I aim to be a physiotherapist that children feel comfortable with, families can trust and everyone feels they can be themselves around. I'm here to listen, collaborate, celebrate progress and work alongside you through the challenges, the little wins and everything in between.
Things parents ask
When will you start seeing clients at Aspen Grove Physio?
I’m planning to begin seeing clients in January 2027. I’ll be welcoming expressions of interest via email from 23 November 2026 for families interested in accessing physiotherapy through Aspen Grove Physiotherapy. This will give us an opportunity to connect, learn a little about your child and their needs, and begin building a waitlist ahead of services commencing. To express your interest, please email katelyn@aspengrovephysio.com.au. I look forward to connecting with you and your family!
When will your Aspen Grove Physio website be live?
My website is currently in the works and is expected to be live within the next 2–4 weeks. Stay tuned!
What kinds of children do you work with?
I work with children with a wide range of abilities and needs, including children who need support with gross motor development, balance, coordination, strength, mobility and participation in everyday activities. I also have experience supporting children with a range of neurological, developmental, genetic and physical conditions. If you’re unsure whether my experience aligns with your child’s needs, please feel welcome to get in touch.
Where do you provide physiotherapy?
I provide mobile paediatric physiotherapy across Melbourne’s south-eastern and western suburbs. Sessions can take place in your home, at school, in a playground, or in another suitable community setting, depending on your child’s needs and goals.
What ages of children do you work with?
I primarily work with children aged 2–16 years, supporting a wide range of movement, developmental and functional goals. However, I’m not limited to this age range! Every child and family is unique, so please feel free to get in touch to discuss your child’s needs and whether I may be a good fit for your family.
Can you help with equipment and NDIS funding?
Yes. I have experience with gait trainers, posterior walkers, standing frames, manual and power wheelchairs, complex seating systems and supportive indoor seating. I provide clinical assessments, prepare reports and supporting documentation for NDIS funding requests, complete assistive technology (AT) applications, coordinate equipment trials and assist with equipment reviews.
Do you work with parents, carers and other therapists?
Absolutely. I see families as essential partners in their child’s care and value the knowledge and insight you bring. Where appropriate and with your consent, I’m also happy to collaborate with other professionals involved in your child’s support to help work towards shared goals.
What if my child needs time to feel comfortable with a new therapist?
That’s absolutely okay! Building trust and connection is an important part of my approach. I take time to get to know each child at their own pace, respecting their communication, sensory needs, interests and preferences. There’s no expectation that every child will be ready to jump straight into activities at their first session.
Can I contact you if I’m not sure whether physiotherapy is right for my child?
Of course! You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If you have questions or are unsure whether physiotherapy may be helpful for your child, you’re welcome to email me. We can have an initial conversation about your child’s needs and whether I may be the right fit for your family.
I'm so glad you're here!
